Could You Donate Blood?

When we are diagnosed with a chronic illness it’s easy to assume that we are no longer able to donate blood. Is it true?

If your medical condition is under control, and you want to donate blood, check with your doctor.

According to the Red Cross “Most chronic illnesses are acceptable as long as you feel well, the condition is under good control, you have an adequate hemoglobin level and your temperature is normal when you come to donate, and you meet all other eligibility requirements.” And “In almost all cases, medications will not disqualify you as a blood donor.” For more details see .
