We’ve changed it to no themes. Just send us your best blog of the month!

We started our Christians with Chronic Illness Blog Carnival in April 2009. We are eager to share with readers some of the amazing blogs out there about living with chronic illness and our faith in Jesus Christ.

The blog carnival can be read at this web site, Chronic Illness/Pain Support.  Choose the category “Christians with Illness Carnival.”

  1. PRESS RELEASE
    MARCH 2009

    SAN DIEGO, CA –
Christians with Illness Blog Carnival Seeking Submissions

Surprise! That is the theme for the first Christians with Chronic Illness Blog Carnival starting in April 2009. The carnival, hosted by Rest Ministries, the largest Christian organization in the USA, hopes to reach the thousands of people who live with chronic illness or pain, and who also rely on their faith to get them through the difficult moments.

Rest Ministries, Inc. began in 1997 when founder Lisa Copen, then 29, was unable to find Christian support for her illness, rheumatoid arthritis. Her ministry now reaches over 80,000 visitors per month through daily devotionals, a social network, HopeKeepers Magazine, and HopeKeepers groups in churches around the USA and beyond.

Copen explains, “There are some amazingly gifted writers on the internet who share about the ups and downs of living with chronic or invisible illness and also their faith. As the number of bloggers increases exponentially each month, we want to provide a place where those who are blogging about their faith and their illness can share their message with more people.”

Submit your blog posting at http://www.christianswithillnessblogcarnivalsubmit.com by April 5, 2009. The carnival will be posted the 15th of each month. Upcoming theme include coping with loss and creative ideas for keeping kids busy during summer months when you have limited energy.

This is a great opportunity for Christian authors who have an illness and blog to share their posts too. Rest Ministries encourages anyone to submit. Preference will be given to those who submit blog posts on the theme, and to those with an illness or who is a caregiver.

“Oftentimes we are most encouraged by others who have walked a similar path,” says Copen. “We want to discover how they are still able to celebrate their lives and find a purpose in their pain.”

    • Where are each months THEME topic posted. I’d like to write for June, but can’t seem to find the place where the themes are listed. It’s probably right in front of my eyes ;) but for the FOG I could see it. Thanks!

      • Here is June’s themes (2) – they are located on the “blog carnival” link above for future reference.

June: We have 2 Themes: (1) School is out! Yay?

How do you cope having your children home for the summer? Do you take care of the grandchildren sometimes? What are some changes you have had to make along the way? What are some positive ideas you can do with your children during the summer? What are some positive things your children can get involved in during the summer to give you your much needed rest time? Share your creative ideas, your ideas that flopped last year, whatever is on your mind.

        (2) Hot Days
What is your favorite summertime tip? How do you stay cool? How do you find ways to exercise? (Or do you not, and struggle with that too?) Do you have difficulties dealing with your body image in the summer when everyone is showing so much skin and maybe your illness either does not allow you to do that or you are just self-conscious. Whatever your summer thoughts are, we’re interested!

    • Is there anyway that I could send this or give a copy of this press release to my minister? He and most of the congregation don’t know about my “Silent Ones” yet. I am planning on e-mailing my minister today. I have thought about starting a Hope Keepers in my church, since I want to reach out to others who are hurting.

Have a good and Godly day.

      God Bless,
      Norma

  2. Lisa, I appreciate all that you do and have been a reader of “Chronic Illness” for many years. God bless you as you work for the Lord.

I have arthritis body wide, lupus, have had spinal surgery and both knees replaced. God is my partner, and we walk hand in hand each day.

    Love,
    Shirley

  3. I do not have a recent website. Forgot the url for the one that I did have. This is important to me now, to let my relatives; sisters, children, aunt… etc. know that I’m not lying.
My Dad passed away this past Monday, March 30th. My siblings have been estranged from me ever since I got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. They don’t even know of my other chronic illnesses.
Last night I called my youngest sister to give her a chance to lay it all out to me, why and what has happened to split up our family. Well, she let me have it…. I listened to everything she had to say. Fibromyalgia was brought up, she insists that I do not have it. She had her reasons, much too long to type right now.
I’m still in the grieving stage of my fathers death. When she brought up something else that is horrible but does not have anything to do with chronic illness, the subject went to God. I was raised Lutheran and they all still attend a Lutheran church. She was certain that “her God would never forgive this horrendous thing that happened to her and my girls”. That the person, even though he “claims” to be reborn and all sins are forgiven, “he will be going to hell when he dies”. This was brought up after an hour being on the phone listening. No words or scriptures came into my head that was spinning by then. I’ve been praying ever since that the Lord, Jesus my Savior will get into her heart and the next time we talk, I can find the words that I need to say.
I’m so grateful to have found this place. I do need to blog again on a regular basis. Thank you Jesus!!

  4. GOOD AFTERNOON, I STUMBLED OVER THIS SITE AND WAS SO EXCITED TO FIND IT.
I AM A CHRISTIAN AND HAVE HAD COPD SINCE 1995. I’M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO MIGHT HAVE HELPFUL IDEAS OR SOMEONE TO LIFE ME UP OR ME LIFT THEM UP WHEN NEEDED ON OUR BAD DAYS, REGARDLESS OF THE REASONS. I BELIEVE THIS WILL BE THE PLACE. I AM 66 YEARS OLD, RETIRED FROM BANKING AND ALONG WITH COPD, I HAVE CHRONIC KIDNEY INFECTIONS WHICH KEEP ME HOUSEBOUND MUCH OF THE TIME AS I HAVE TO TAKE MY IV’S BY IV IN A CHEST PORT.
GOD IS MY STRENGTH AND MY VERY BEST FRIEND.
    BUNCHES OF HUGS,’LINDA

  5. WOW Linda I read your blog and could hardly believe that another is living w/ a port and Chronic Kidney Infections as I do, I have fibro, cfs, etc. and am living in end stages cirrhosis of the liver from Hep. C V I got from a blood transfusion….so my white blood cell count is very low and I am constantly getting infections and can only recieve IV antibiotics because of so many allergies to meds, I had no idea that someone else would understand what it is like to have to live as we do…so take heart I suffer and pray for and w/you and if you need me I am here for you my dear sis-in-Christ

  6. [...] Visit her encouraging and sometimes humorous blog, Beelieve You Can! – Michele’s Morsels at: http://michele-risingabove.blogspot.com/ Michele is also the volunteer coordinator for Rest Ministries new Blog Carnival – http://chronicillnesssupport.wordpress.com/blog-carnival/ [...]

  7. Lisa, I am always so amazed by the new and interesting ways you invent to encourage those of us who suffer to participate. What a gift!

  8. I made a mistake in the submission process earlier this month. I included a post from my WordPress. I’ve switched to Blogger and meant to include that url.

So I submitted the same story twice. The one that has debraweiss.net in the url is the correct one. I’m very sorry about that. I couldn’t find the contact button to send you an email. (My vision is blurry today).

    Again, my deepest apologies,

    Debra

  9. Praying for you, Lisa, with all you have on your plate. {hug}

  10. Will the June blog carnival be published?

  11. Hi! I’m here via Jenni’s blog. I am very interested in this ministry and thankful.

The submission page will not open for me; is it down at the moment?

    smooches,
    Larie

  12. My son has CHF and has been through quite a bit healthwise. God has helped us both cope with the hospital visits and the illness itself. Good nutrition has been a plus for his heart health. Praise God!
